Ver 4.0

Dug another hour on Crop Circles this evening - I do believe that its approaching the "Seths Mom Could Ride It" state...

Crop Circles Redux...

Post  Admin on Sat Apr 27, 2013 9:54 pm

Enjoyed a fantastic afternoon of birdsong while widening and edge-bevelling the little Crop Circles extension trail. What began as an effort to smoothing out the transition at the bottom of turn #2 evolved into a complete rebuild of much of the lower trail (!)

I have a vision of one day being able to roller-coaster ride the entire section - without touching the brakes... Today's effort should go a long way toward realizing that twisted goal What a Face

Also spiffed up the landing of the small-but-impressive rock-ramp located about 90% of the way through the Campbell Classic loop - some will know which one I mean...

Speed, baby... Speed!!!

Camber

Post  Admin on Sun Apr 28, 2013 4:13 am

CheekyMonkey; look at it - the surface is composed of sand and clay - with lots of sand. It cannot be bermed with an inward slant - as it'll only last a season or two if done in that manner due to our 3 to 4 annual power-rain-storms.

If you have trouble with the trail at this point... Dude...

I rode it flat-out this evening with a fully loaded Bob trailer. The arcs and transitions flowed like a hemophiliac with a nosebleed!

Mineral Soil

Post  Admin on Sun Apr 28, 2013 12:13 pm

What it needs is mineral soil - the Holy Grail of trail-building on Campbell. Meanwhile back on the east-face... prescious little exists.

Nonetheless, the way it is now - my great uncle John could ride it wide open on a 67' Schwinn!

Wooden features on Campbell Mt.

Post  Admin on Sun Apr 28, 2013 12:58 pm

I've lobbied the City of Penticton for quite some time to give me the green light on building a couple of super-sturdy, basic/low stunts on Campbell Mt.

Unfortunately, trying to get a straight answer out of them on this litigious subject has been somewhat like herding cats...

We need to send a couple of sensible city staff on a road trip to Williams Lake in order that they become educated in what mountain bike tourism looks like...
